Chad and Crystal's Wedding: Chapter 2

The Bachelorette Party. Planned by mistake on the weekend of St. Patrick's Day when every Irish human-being is out celebrating. Yes, it was crowded in downtown Denver! We had a great time at a private dinner, riding in a Limo, and dancing at a club where we were "VIP" in the roped off area. It had been a LONG time since I had been out, so I did my best to keep up with all the girls. :)

We hope your Easter was a bright and sunny day--Mike and I spent Easter Sunday in Jamaica for Chad and Crystal's wedding. Coincidentally, it was our 12th wedding Anniversary as well. There is much more to come about Jamaica, so don't worry!

The coolest baby contraption ever!

Carson absolutely LOVES this baby-bouncer that he can jump in. It is so cute to watch, and really good for his muscle development. :)

Carson is lecturing Kava about something, but only he and Kava understand what is being said...

It is amazing how fast they grow up. Carson will be crawling before we know it!

Carson finally got to meet Lindsey

Lindsey Hunter was in town last week, and she came over to meet Carson for the first time. Mike and I both taught and coached Lindsey when she was in High School, and we have kept in touch with her since then. She competed in Track and Field at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and met her hockey-player husband there. We try to get together whenever Lindsey is in town, and we have even road-tripped to Omaha to visit Nick and Lindsey--that's how you know they are special because we went to Nebraska to see them! :) ha ha

Lindsey just finished nursing school and got a job in the cardiac unit of a hospital in Omaha. We sure are proud of her!!

Chad and Crystal's Wedding: Chapter One

THE BRIDAL SHOWER March 9, 2008

Mike is the Best Man and I am a bridesmaid in Chad & Crystal's upcoming wedding nuptials on March 25th. The festivities began with a Bridal Shower for Crystal at my house last weekend. 25 people came to shower Crystal with gifts, wish her congratulations, and offer her advice about marriage :).

This is an action shot just before we played a game...YES--I organized a Bridal shower game which is usually against everything I believe in. HOWEVER, it was actually pretty fun! I asked Chad some questions before the shower, and then we all guessed how many Crystal would answer correctly. There were easy questions like "where did you go on your first date?", and then some harder ones like "what superhero would Chad be?" and "would Chad ever go sky-diving?". Out of 14 questions, Crystal got 9 correct which is pretty good. The people that guessed 9 each got a little prize. It was fun!!

This is another idea that I had for the shower that worked out very well. If you have a digital picture frame, simply load a memory card full of pictures of the couple getting married or even some of the bride when she was little, etc...it was a nice touch!!

Here is the food spread--and of course Mike helped me with all the appetizers. :) He is pretty amazing, I know. We had cupcakes instead of a cake, and we put little drink umbrellas on them (because Chad and Crystal are getting married in Jamaica).

One last thing that I put together for Crystal was a picture guestbook, where everyone got their picture taken and wrote down a favorite memory of Crystal. I am putting everything together in a scrapbook for her. I like this idea because it will be a great way for her to remember her Bridal Shower--and especially the people that came to celebrate with her!

Crystal's Bachelorette party was last night in Denver...and there will be some pictures coming to commemorate this event in "Chapter Two". "Chapter Three" is the wedding in Jamaica--Mike and I leave on Saturday for a 5 day trip. "Chapter Four" will immortalize the wedding reception in April.

Weddings are so much FUN!!

Sick?? On a WEEKEND?!? It gets worse...

I have Pink Eye.

I've taught high school for 12 years, and could boast that "I have never had Pink Eye"... until Saturday when I woke up looking like a one-eyed pirate because my right eye was stuck shut.

On my weekend.
When my primary-care physician is not available.
So I can drive around looking for an Urgent Care facility as opposed to an Emergency room to get EYE DROPS (don't even get me started on health insurance!!!!).
I really didn't think that eye drops could cost $60.00, but they did.

So Mom--if you are reading this on your wonderful trip in Texas, then know this: you are invaluable and I miss you very much. :)

So far Carson and Mike don't have any signs of Pink Eye, but I've washed my hands so much in the last 2 days that they look red and irritated.

Oh well--you gotta have days like these, right? I am taking tomorrow off from school, No need to scare the kiddos with my right eye that looks like I'm possessed. On second thought...Nah. I won't do it!
