Happy 4th of July!!

Our July 4th Activities actually start on July 3rd. In a nearby neighborhood called Vista Ridge, the community puts on one of the best fireworks displays around--and they do it on July 3rd! We love it because they open up the golf course for people to hang out and picnic on, and then the fireworks are right over your head when it gets dark.

This year, we went to Vista Ridge on the 3rd, and then to our traditional BBQ at Rick Marlowe's house on the 4th. Carson had a babysitter on July 3rd, and then we all went to the BBQ the next day. We watched 11 different fireworks shows from the field behind our house after Carson went to sleep!

Here are some pictures from Vista Ridge this year:
We have been going to Vista Ridge since the first year they started the fireworks show. 5 years later, vendors and jumping castles have sprung up everywhere. I can't wait to bring Carson to this event!!
The fireworks go off right above the clubhouse, so we always get there early to grab our favorite location to watch the show!
Here is our homebase. :) Bob always gets there early and sets up our picnic area. This year, he hung the CU flag on the tent, and we had a few people ask us if we were the "CU Alumni Tent". Pretty funny.
After a good meal of KFC, we usually play some games and just hang out. There is a DJ playing music at the clubhouse, so we are pretty set!
You can see one of our favorite games to play in this picture. You use 2 golfballs on a string to try and wrap around one of the rungs on the stand. The object is to get 21 points. We call it "Ladderball"...but we have also heard it called "Hillbilly Horseshoes" :)
Bob and I are enjoying one of the best days of the year!

Jason, Molly, Tyler, and Kasey all joined us for a little bit. Kasey is about 6 months younger than Carson. We call them our "Crispin Cousins". Tyler is so funny right now because he is in that stage of fascination with pictures. Getting him to pose normally wasn't going to happen!
Chad and Crystal--such cute newlyweds!
Our friends Mike and Erica came this year. So fun!
It is getting darker, and Jeff and I are getting excited...
Mike and I enjoyed a great fireworks show and had a fun time hanging out with our friends.
Kevin and Collin were there as well--but I didn't manage to get a good picture of them. :(
Lots of other people show up just before the fireworks begin. This year, there were 20 of us watching the show! What a great night--and July 4th was a lot of fun, too!
