I might admit that I went a little overboard for Halloween this year. We didn't miss ANYTHING, and the calendar was full of great activities and events for us to enjoy. When October 31st was over, I had to physically recover from all of the fun we had! You need to prepare yourselves for this post because there are TONS of pictures! It's a long one. In this picture, I think Carson is wondering what why we were laughing--and of course it was how cute he looked in his costume :).
We went to the "Halloween Safe Night" at Centaurus High School. There is a carnival for little kids, and a haunted house for bigger kids. We stayed FAR AWAY from the Haunted House--I know how scary it is because I'm usually in it as a straight-jacket crazy person in a very scary hospital... no comments from the peanut gallery, please. ha ha ha
Here is the family enjoying our first Halloween outing in 2008:
Carson loves "babies", and goes up to all little ones to start a conversation. In this particular instance, he saw the baby and moved really fast--and I got to enjoy a back view of the little dragon!
It was HOT in there! Carson found a pumpkin and went to check it out...
Here is the entrance to the Haunted Hallway--my classroom is in the middle of this hallway. There was a line down the hall to get in, and it doesn't disappoint. The DECA business club puts on this event every year, and I finally got to bring my own kid to celebrate in the festivities! We have really enjoyed becoming Denver Zoo members this year, and one of the extra attractions that the zoo puts on is a Treat-or-treat Street at the zoo. I would like to assert that there are some REALLY scary things at the zoo all year long--like the Two-spotted Assassin Bug. These things look nasty.
It was such a nice day out that we didn't make Carson wear his Dragon costume to the zoo. Instead, we went with his "Bones" outfit so he wasn't so hot.
We never miss the zoo carousel. Here, Daddy and Carson enjoy a ride:
And Carson got another ride with Mommy :)
We decided to try out the Larakeet feeding area on this trip. You pay $1.00 and get a cup of sugar water, and you can feed the birds. Carson seemed to enjoy it.
Me, on the other hand--well I became the "Bird Whisperer" and broke all kinds of rules because you weren't supposed to touch the birds. I didn't ASK the birds to jump on my arm, but all of a sudden they started climbing all over. What can I say? I just have the touch, I guess...
Our favorite spot in the zoo is called "Tropical Discovery". We have been there 7 or 8 times, but it was Boo at the Zoo when Carson gasped at this exhibit and said reverently--"NEMO!!!!!!" And so it begins...

but maybe it is TOO cute because it didn't get taken very seriously! Luckily, no injuries occurred. :)
There were some fun picture areas, and Carson was really interested in getting his picture taken--it was fun!
Well howdy partner! This is my favorite.
Peek-a-boo!!
Who would have thought this could be so much fun??!?
Carson is checking out the many attractions at the pumpkin farm, and looking quite relaxed. :)
On October 31st, we had a teacher inservice at work. Here is the CHS Social Studies department saying Happy Halloween--now you can see why my job is so much fun!
After work, I drove to Grandma and Grandpa Bedwell's house and we all went to the Pearl Street Mall to check things out on Halloween. Grandma dressed up as a Black Widow Spider!!

Grandpa dressed up as...Grandpa. :)
It took a bit for Carson to take all of the action in, but he seemed to have a great time and he got a lot of candy. Grandpa took him around to all of the shops to trick-or-treat, and we got some loot!
I am always looking for a good idea, and this next picture was possibly the cutest costume I have seen. I will file this away for next year, because I can totally see Carson being a Jedi Master by the name of YODA in the future! So cute! (I couldn't get this picture to load correctly, and I give up)
Again--Grandpa and Carson had a great time Trick-or-treating and they even met the Easter Bunny!
There is an area on the mall that has huge statues of various animals that has been there since I was a kid. I remember that I loved playing on them. We took Carson to see the big frog, rabbit, and large beaver (maybe?). He had a great time! It could be a muskrat....jpg)
By the time we headed out to Trick-or-treat in the neighborhood, Carson was a trained professional with his elmo bucket. He probably thinks that "Halloween" is a two-week extravaganza instead of one night!
As usual, the neighborhood was a-buzz with Trick-or-treaters and decorations. The fun part was that I got to take my own kid out to trick-or-treat--FINALLY! After we went to a few select houses on the block, we got in the car and drove to surprise Grandma and Grandpa Lowe and get some candy. We also dropped by Keith and Debbie Senseney's house to say hello. Since Daddy had a football game on Halloween night, we decided to stop off at Broomfield High School as well to hang out with him. By the time we got home, Mommy and Carson were both tired and went "night-night". :)
