Last weekend, we decided to check out the Denver Natural History Museum since Carson is beginning to love dinosaurs. It seemed like a really good idea--we were excited. It is funny how things sometimes don't turn out the way you think it will happen...It was so crowded when we arrived that we had to park down a few levels in the parking garage. It just so happens that there is a 3-story tall Brontosaurus statue with a smaller dinosaur right next to the Parking garage elevators. I will admit--it was REALLY neat! Carson was enthralled, and pointed out "Little Foot" right away (for all of you "Land Before Time" fans out there). He sat on the dinosaur's tail and just loved these statues. Keep in mind that we hadn't even gone into the museum yet...
When we finally went in, it was super-crowded. We made a move towards the "Prehistoric" exhibit and eagerly looked at Carson's face when we saw all of the dinosaur bones. He looked around and asked where the dinosaurs WERE (Translation--"what are all of these silly bones doing here???"), and asked politely if we could go back to the parking garage to see Little Foot. :)
We talked him into at least looking at the "Africa" exhibit before we left--to which he asked us; "why aren't any of the animals moving??". (Translation--"this place sucks compared to the Zoo.")
We did have a little fun in the Discovery Zone where we joined other kids and played some drums, but the museum was mostly a bust. We could have saved $22, stayed in the parking garage for 30 minutes, and headed over to the zoo where we have a membership pass. Live and learn, I guess.
Side note: Don't think for a minute that we won't make a special trip to the museum PARKING GARAGE to go see Little Foot. We will. And I'm sure it will be great! :)
